Your Website, Your Way
For those of you who are more hands on, our team have been busy working out how we can provide you with even more control over your website and hosting arrangements.
As you are aware, we recently transferred our hosting over to new servers and a better solution that now gives you the freedom to:
- add, remove and redirect email addresses as staff come and go and
- set up auto responders for when you go on holidays, attend seminars or won't be available in the office
It is very simple for you to make these changes yourself. We have easy to follow step by step instructions available on our forum for quick reference.
Of course, if you prefer to have us make the changes for you, we are more than happy to help out with our normal hourly rate applicable.
Email admin@insilico.com.au for your Control Panel login details so you can start managing your own hosting solution today!
Optimising Images
It is widely known that the loading time of a website has a major influence on the overall experience of a user on your site.
Research has shown that users will leave a site if images/photos fail to load within 4 seconds.
A best practice for speeding up your website loading time is to optimise images. Optimising images refers to making the image size smaller while keeping the quality of it good.
Some benefits of image optimisation include faster web page loading times and saving storage and bandwidth space with your hosting.
There are many products out there than can help optimise your images but we have recently found a great free online tool called Smush.it
Getting Your Website Noticed
Having other websites link to your website will influence your search engine rankings. These are known as inbound links where your website is listed on another website and when someone clicks on the listing, it takes them to your website.
For example a real estate company may be listed on www.realestate.com.au . When someone clicks on the company logo or the web address they will go to the website of the real estate company. That would be an inbound link for that company and it helps Google sit up and take notice that this site is worth looking at as someone has "recommended" this site.
Some great ways to create inbound links include:
- Submit your site to search engines
- Submit your site to link directories
- Submit articles to other websites
- Submit press releases
- Create one-way backlinks from other websites
- Submit your site to social bookmarking sites
- Add your site to social networking sites
- Get one-way links from authority sites
- Build communities on social networking sites
- Submit videos
- Add comments to other people’s Blogs
- Add comments to Forums
Of course, the team at insilico are always able to help you with increasing your search engine rankings
